Two Teens Drown in Bronx River

Posted on July 26th, 2010 No Comments

According to The New York Times, two teenagers drowned in the Bronx River this weekend. They were in a popular swimming spot that is off limits according to authorities. 15-year-old Crystal Reyes was having trouble swimming in the river just above the dam. 17-year-old David Lee Luccioni III jumped in to save the girl.

Both ended up dead at St. Barnabas Hospital where they were pronounced upon arrival.

According to The New York Times, “A police spokesman said that both the police and parks departments were responsible for enforcing the restricted area.” Despite the drownings, the paper reports that kids were swimming in the river just hours after the bodies were rescued from the scene.
