A Syracuse woman was recently awarded $1.69 million in her medical malpractice lawsuit against Community General Hospital.
Then 31-year old Tina Holstein gave birth to her third child in October 2007 at the hospital in Syracuse. After the delivery, Holstein began vomiting, so a nurse working at the hospital administered an intramuscular injection to help her.
Holstein later realized she had suffered permanent damage to her sciatic nerve, which she believes to be the result of the injection being improperly administered. A New York court found the Community General Hospital liable for her injury with total damages of $1.69 million.
