According to the Associated Press, “A New York City police officer has been charged with hitting a bicyclist with his police car and driving off.”
The officer was charged Tuesday with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and assault. The Associated Press writes that Officer Luis Ramos hit a bicyclist, dragged him to the curb, gave him a kleenex and promptly drove off. He neither reported the accident nor called EMS. Surveillance cameras caught it all.
The officer plans to plead not guilty and is currently on suspension without pay. AP reports, “The cyclist was treated for cuts, bruises and a fractured wrist.”
